The team at Oracare saved me from a very bad situation – unbearable tooth pain during a business trip. I received an appointment just a few hours after getting in touch with them and I received high-quality, compassionate care, which turned out to be a root canal. I really appreciated Dr Prajapati explaining everything, checking in with me about any pain I might be experiencing and addressing it very quickly. Getting a root canal while away from home is definitely scary, but I was genuinely relieved to have it done here, which is why I'm happy to leave this review.
I recently visited this clinic for a range of dental treatments, including gum treatment, RCT, crowning, and wisdom teeth removal, and I’m extremely satisfied with the care I received. Dr. Rita, Dr. Dolma, and Dr. Shweta were incredibly gentle and attentive throughout each procedure, always checking to ensure I was comfortable and not in any pain or discomfort. Their compassion, professionalism, and personal attention made a real difference in my treatment experience. The procedures were carried out with great care and precision, from deep cleaning and scaling to more complex treatments. I noticed significant improvements in my gum health—less inflammation, no bleeding, and an overall fresher, healthier feeling. The clinic is equipped with advanced, high-tech equipment, and the environment is clean, cozy, and very well-maintained, which added to the sense of safety and comfort during my every visit. I’m especially grateful for the clear explanations, gentle approach, and continuous motivation provided by the doctors and the entire team. Their friendly, supportive attitude turned what could have been a stressful process into a smooth and positive journey. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rita, Dr. Dolma, Dr. Sushmita, and all the team members for their exceptional care. I highly recommend Oracare dental clinic to anyone looking for expert, compassionate, and quality dental treatment.
Battling gum problems for years, I discovered a haven at Oracare Periodontal Clinic in Kathmandu. Dr. Rita's expertise shines through her treatment plan and calming voice, a true melody for anxious patients. Over the past two years, her knowledge and efficient approach have significantly improved my dental health. The entire experience is outstanding - from Dr. Ira's skillful root canal treatment to the unfailing kindness and helpfulness of every staff member. Oracare boasts the most welcoming and positive clinic environment I've found in Kathmandu, making even dental visits a pleasure
I had a great experience at Oracare. Dr. Rita Singh and Dr. Ratna are the best at what they do. The staff are super friendly and professional, the clinic is clean and hygienic. The treatment was effective. No doubt, services in this clinic are on par with those found anywhere else in the world. Overall, I highly recommend this clinic for periodontal care
It was my first time to visit to oracle clinic in 2016 for my major events of my front teeth. I found it very challenging and scary initially but because of their professionalism and hard work it got fixed. I'm personally very happy and well satisfied with their working skills. All credit goes to Dr RITA because of her caring attitude and her hardwork, I always feel like visiting oracare for my regular check ups. Once again Thank you Dr RITA all the team. Wish you more success!
Thank you, Oracare. Looks like I ended up spending most of my holiday at your clinic 😊 Truly amazing service and excellent quality of care. A special thank you to Dr. Shweta, Dr. Iru, and Dr. Abha for taking such great care of me. Really appreciate everything! 🙏✨
One of the best dental clinics in Kathmandu. If you want to be treated by doctors who are passionate about their jobs, this is the place to be. I had problems with my gums and a loose tooth and Dr. Rita and Dr. Iru took a great care with it. I am still going for follow-ups. I even learned a great deal about oral hygiene after visiting this clinic, for which I am truly grateful. I now know that one of the main culprit of tooth loss is the gums, so even though you think its fine, you should get a good assessment of your gums before its too late. They do specialize in gums along with other services. They are a bit on the pricy side than the other clinics I have visited but I take it as an investment in my oral care.

Dental implants are one of the most reliable options for replacing missing teeth. They are well-established for restoring both function and aesthetics. Made of biocompatible titanium, implants integrate with the jawbone over a period of about 2–3 months in a process called osseointegration. Once this integration is successful, a crown is placed—either screw-retained or cement-retained—onto an abutment attached to the implant.
The long-term success of implants depends on factors such as proper case selection, good oral hygiene, healthy surrounding tissues, and habits like avoiding smoking. Today, numerous global companies manufacture high-quality implant systems using advanced titanium surface technologies. Since the pioneering work of early implant surgeons in the 1960s, there have been significant advancements in implant design and techniques.
With the advent of digital dentistry, implant procedures have become more precise, efficient, and patient-friendly. As a result, patients from around the world are increasingly traveling abroad for treatment. Kathmandu has emerged as a notable destination for dental tourism, offering a combination of skilled expertise and cost-effective care.

That sudden, sharp jolt you feel when sipping cold water or biting into something hot isn’t just a minor annoyance—it’s your tooth trying to tell you something is wrong. It usually means the protective outer layer has been compromised.
While many people reach for over-the-counter desensitizing toothpaste, using these without a proper dental check is like silencing a smoke alarm while the fire is still burning. Everyday habits—brushing too hard, clenching your teeth under stress, or frequently consuming acidic drinks like lemon water—can gradually wear away enamel.
As this layer thins, tiny channels called dentinal tubules become exposed, leading directly to the nerve. Without protection, your teeth become vulnerable—not just to sensitivity, but also to decay and potential long-term damage.
⸻
The Hidden Risk Behind Tooth Sensitivity
The real concern isn’t just the discomfort—it’s what that sensitivity might be masking. While it can result from simple wear and tear, the same sharp pain could also signal a cracked tooth, a failing restoration, or even an early infection beneath the gums.
Relying only on store-bought solutions may dull the symptom but allow the underlying problem to progress silently. What starts as mild sensitivity can escalate into a serious condition requiring a root canal or even tooth loss.
Only a proper dental examination can determine whether the cause is harmless or something more serious. Don’t ignore the warning signs—address them early before they turn into bigger problems.

Oral cancer (also known as mouth cancer) is one of the few types of cancer where survival rates remain tragically low—not because it is difficult to treat, but because it is often found too late. Unlike many other cancers, oral cancer is highly visible. You can literally see it in a mirror. Yet, thousands of cases are diagnosed only at advanced stages.
The good news? When caught early, oral cancer has an 80-90% survival rate. Here is what you need to know to spot the warning signs before it is too late.
Because early-stage oral cancer rarely causes pain, most people dismiss the initial symptoms as minor irritations. Do not ignore any of the following if they last longer than two weeks:
1. The Persistent Sore
A mouth ulcer or sore that bleeds easily and refuses to heal is the most common red flag. Canker sores usually disappear within 10 days. If yours lingers, see a professional.
2. The Red or White Patch
Leukoplakia: Thick, white patches that cannot be scraped off. These are considered precancerous.
Erythroplakia: Flat, red patches. These are much rarer but have a significantly higher risk of becoming malignant.
3. Numbness or Pain
Unexplained numbness, tenderness, or a dull ache in any part of the mouth, tongue, or lips—without an obvious injury.
4. A Lump or Thickening
A rough spot, crust, or small lump on the lip, gum, or inside the cheek. You may also feel a bump in the back of your throat or on your neck (swollen lymph nodes).
5. Functional Changes
Difficulty chewing, swallowing, or speaking.
A sensation that something is caught in your throat.
Chronic hoarseness or a change in your voice.
Ear pain that does not involve an ear infection.
While anyone can develop oral cancer, the following factors dramatically increase your odds:
| Risk Factor | Impact Level |
|---|---|
| Tobacco (Smoking/Chewing) | #1 cause. 80% of people with oral cancer use tobacco. |
| Heavy Alcohol Use | Increases risk 3-5x; combined with tobacco, risk increases 30x. |
| HPV-16 (Human Papillomavirus) | The fastest-growing cause, particularly in non-smoking young adults. |
| Prolonged Sun Exposure | Linked to lip cancer. |
| Poor Diet | Low intake of fruits and vegetables increases vulnerability. |
Preventing oral cancer requires a combination of lifestyle changes and proactive healthcare.
1. The "No-Tobacco" Rule
This is non-negotiable. If you chew tobacco or smoke, your risk of developing oral cancer is 50 times higher than a non-user. Quitting is the single most effective prevention strategy.
2. Practice the 2-Week Rule
If any sore, discoloration, or swelling in your mouth persists for 14 days without healing, do not wait for your annual checkup. Go to a dentist or doctor immediately.
3. Get the HPV Vaccine
The HPV vaccine (Gardasil) is highly effective at preventing the strains of HPV that cause oral and throat cancers. It is recommended for both boys and girls starting at ages 9-12.
4. Protect Your Lips
Use a lip balm with SPF 30 or higher. The lower lip is a common site for squamous cell carcinoma due to sun exposure.
5. Perform a Monthly Self-Exam
Once a month, stand in front of a mirror with a bright light. Look at and feel:
The insides of your lips and cheeks.
The roof and floor of your mouth.
Your tongue (top, bottom, and sides).
The back of your throat.
Your neck for lumps.
This may surprise you: Dentists are the first line of defense against oral cancer. During a routine cleaning, they look for exactly these signs. If you haven't had a dental exam in the last year, you are missing your best chance at early detection. Many dental offices now offer specialized VELscope or OralID exams, which use fluorescent light to spot abnormal tissue before it is visible to the naked eye.
Oral cancer does not have to be a death sentence. It is a disease of neglect—neglect of symptoms, neglect of checkups, and neglect of healthy habits. By knowing the signs and acting quickly, you can stop this disease in its tracks.
Look in the mirror today. Your life may depend on it.
